Before the work begins.

A few things to know about surfacing, preparation and getting a quote.

Asphalt or paving: which should I choose?

The right choice depends on appearance, traffic, drainage and the site. Asphalt creates a continuous surface; paving uses individual blocks that can be lifted for access or local repairs. Both need a properly prepared base. We can discuss the trade-offs for your project.

How long will the work take?

Area, preparation, weather, access and the type of finish affect the programme. A small driveway and a working industrial yard need different plans. Ask for an expected programme after the site and scope have been assessed.

When can I use a new asphalt surface?

Asphalt needs time to cool and develop resistance to loading. Weather, mix, thickness and vehicle weight affect reopening. Follow the site-specific handover instructions, especially for heavy vehicles, tight turning and stationary loads. We confirm the appropriate waiting period for the job.

How long does surfacing last?

Service life depends on the supporting layers, drainage, traffic, materials and maintenance. There is no single lifespan that applies to every surface. Fixing drainage problems and small defects early helps reduce further damage.

What affects the price?

The area, existing condition, excavation, base preparation, thickness, material choice, drainage, access, transport and traffic loading all affect cost. A price per square metre alone may not cover everything your site needs.

Do I need measurements before asking for a quote?

No. Start with your name, contact number, town and the service you need. Approximate measurements, photos and a deadline help if you have them, but they are optional for the first enquiry.

Do you work outside Gauteng?

We welcome enquiries across South Africa. Availability and mobilisation depend on the location, scope and programme of the project. Tell us the town and the work needed so we can assess it.

Can I enquire without WhatsApp?

Yes. Use the email enquiry form, email info@bgprojects.co.za directly, or call 076 215 6579. WhatsApp is an optional contact channel.

Is there a warranty?

Ask for the warranty and any exclusions that apply to your particular project. The agreed terms should be recorded in writing with the scope of work; a warranty for one type of work may not apply to another.
